A Ten Day Birding Trip

Helen and I recently returned from a trip to the Wilderness area and Montagu. We began by staying at the Forever Resorts in Plettenberg Bay for three days. It is a really nice resort on the  banks of the Keurbooms River. We stayed in a cottage situated in a small densely wooded gorge just off the river. There are 21 cottages, spaced apart, but only three were occupied so the birdlife was not disturbed.   

We were awoken each morning by the strident notes of the Knysna Turacos and by the melodious songs of the Black Headed Orioles. There were many birds around our cottage including African Olive Pigeons, Olive Woodpeckers, Dusky Flycatchers, Double-collared and Amethyst Sunbirds  amongst others.
