Well, we got through that!! It was a really interesting Challenge and wonderful to see the range of birds identified by the 34 couples or individuals who entered. Well done to you all, especially to John and Sheelagh Bowman who recorded a wonderful score of 60 species. They were closely followed by Peter and Marie Dagg with 56 species and then came Ronnie and Renee Hazell, Keith and Debby Brooke-Sumner and Gavin and Cynthia Turner tied in third place with 54 species each. Where one lives played a big part in all of this and being close to the sea, or on a farm (as in the case with Keith and Debby) really helps.
No less than 124 separate species were seen by the entire group and there were some really unusual garden birds amongst them. Only one bird was recorded by all the entrants – the ubiquitous Hadeda Ibis…
