Monday 09 December 2019. Costa Rica.
It was our nicest morning in Monteverde; not surprising then that we were moving on. We had plans to try a couple of possible birding sites on the road to Tarcoles, situated on the Pacific lowlands an hour or so south of Monteverde, so we decided to head off early after breakfast and allow ourselves plenty of time for the descent. We also decided to retrace our journey down to the Interamericana Highway, although it wasn’t the most direct route-after all we’d had some luck on that road on the way up. So it was with light hearts that we packed up the car, paid our bill and headed off, in bright sunlight, down Route 606, enjoying the fabulous views of the mountains and of the distant Gulf of Nicoya, our final destination.
