February 24th:The Last Wilderness: A History of the Olympic Peninsula (2019) by Murray Morgan  Originally published in 1955, this new version includes an introduction by author Tim McNulty, whose book Olympic National Park: A Natural History, is a primary text for the Natural History Society.  The Last Wilderness is regarded as a “classic history of the Olympic Peninsula,” told in Morgan’s trademark prose, composed from meticulous research and in depth personal experiences on the land. An excerpt from the back of the book:  “Morgan recounts vivid adventures of the area’s settlers, including loggers, hunters, prospectors, homesteaders, utopianists, murderers, conservationists, Wobblies, and bureaucrats, alongside stories of coastal first peoples and striking descriptions of the peninsula’s wildlife and land.”
