This is the 24thyear I have been selected to display and sell bonsai in the Park Ave Art Festival. My Monday Senior Crew and I create indoor bonsai for the public to introduce them to the art. Easy to maintain sub tropical species are used so they have good luck keeping their new bonsai alive. Each bonsai is pruned, shaped, wired, wired into the container and even mossed. But, the main purpose of participating is to gather new students for my Introductory Classical Bonsai Art Courses. This year we promoted the upcoming US National Bonsai Exhibition too.

In early July, this tree’s primary branches were wired. Interestingly, since they were wired up and out, so each had a place in the sunshine, the tree responded with rapid growth. In about 3 weeks, it became necessary to remove the wires.

Lo sfoltimento estivo del Faggio è un’operazione essenziale per la formazione a bonsai di questa essenza. La potatura a 2 gemme e la riduzione delle foglie esterne più grandi consente un maggior irraggiamento della ramificazione interna oltre che lo sviluppo di una ramificazione fine e ravvicinata.
Ho in coltivazione questo Faggio da ormai 10 anni e produce stabilmente internodi di 1 cm di lunghezza, necessari per aumentare anno dopo anno la ramificazione fine.
