Forest Buzzard Hiking Trail

Set at the foot of the majestic Outeniqua Mountain, situated just outside of George. The Forest Buzzard Trail is an easy 2.2km circular route through pine plantations some indigenous forest and passes by a cascading waterfall.

The trail starts from Witfontein forestry station (just outside George) and parking is available at the forestry station. The hike starts from the gate. look out for the sign “Forest Buzzard” which will point you in the right direction. The route is well-marked with white arrows on wooden boards. There are some benches along the way allow for plenty of stops should it be necessary.

The initial route winds through pine trees and then heads for a gravel service road from which you head left onto a jeep track. The jeep track then gives way to a footpath on your left from which you continue until you leave the plantation and enter the forest…
