The Hadeda Ibis and Bird of prey – The unsuccessful hunt

I know the Leopard or Lion in action taking out the prey can be thrilling, but even “smaller” things can be exceptional.   I was down on the banks of the Impenjati river when I heard the cry of a Hadeda Ibis in trouble.  I noted how a bird of prey is busy trying to catch the Hadeda Ibis.  As a desperate attempt to avoid the bird of prey, the Hadeda Ibis dropped down into the water. The bird of prey abandoned its hunt and flew of to a tree on the bank of the river.  The Hadeda Ibis just stayed quite floating on the water.  I have not seen a Hadeda out so far into water before.  After about ten minutes of floating, it took off to my surprise! No that is a new one for me…. And I did not get photos of the “action”. …
